The Approved Green Business Certification Seal
What is the Seal?
A mark of achievement awarded to companies transitioning into more sustainable practices,
embracing the concepts of the
Triple Bottom Line and Corporate Social Responsibility.
History of the Seal
The staff at GreenProfit Solutions toiled laboriously on designing a program which
was credible, attainable, and affordable. At the onset, organizations with existing
standards for various aspects of the new program were identified. Best practices
were derived from:
- USGBC’s LEED standards
- California Green Business Program
- ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems
- EPA Energy Star & WasteWise (GreenProfit Solutions is an Energy Star Partner & WasteWise
Endorser)
What Makes the Seal a Certification?
By partnering with the EPA’s programs, a variety of standardized tools and metrics
became available for company audits. Additionally, academic resources as well as
representatives of various industries across the entire United States were surveyed
to ensure program competency.
All member companies must follow a carefully designed process for transitioning
business practices - How it
Works. Upon completion, the Guidelines are submitted to in-house specialists.
Pending successful review, the company is deemed qualified and the certification
is awarded. To encourage continuous improvement and maintain compliance, companies
must re-certify annually.
CEO Statement on Certification
Certified Approved Green Businesses take an active role in educating and motivating
employees, customers, and members, encouraging new ideas on sustainability for use
in the office and at home. Presence of the Seal provides consumer confidence of
that company’s social and environmental policies.
